How Sports Bottles Are Made
We take plastic bottles with us to the gym, to work, when we’re running around doing errands, riding on the subway…basically anywhere we go. School-going kids take plastic bottles with them to school, to the playground, to basketball practice, etc.
We take plastic bottles for granted. These handy reusable plastic bottles, aka sports bottles, get us through the day by allowing us to carry our beverages with us wherever we go. Companies selling plastic bottles experiment with design, color, and structure of the bottle to ensure their products stand out amongst the rest in the market.
If your organization is looking for large quantities of sports bottles to design and sell, get in touch with PremiumVials today.
We offer a wide collection of plastic items including high-quality sports bottles.
Here’s an overview of how sports bottles are made:
1.Into the Hopper
Sports bottles are made of plastic because of the various properties it offers such as recyclability, durability, and flexibility.
In the first stage of production, tiny plastic pellets are put into a hopper; this is a large funnel-shaped contraption.
2.Dyed With Color
Once the pellets are flushed out of the hopper, dyes are inserted into the machine to give the bottles their desired color.
3.Turn Up the Heat
After the pellets are dyed, they are put through a heated tube with temperatures of 150 to 350°F. The heat melts the pellet and turns them into malleable goo which can be poured into molds.
4.Injected into Molds
The goo is transferred into the desired molds. After the mold is filled, they are left to cool down so they can harden.
5.Reheating and Another Round of Molding
Sports bottles go through molding a few times. In the first molding session, the bottles look like plastic cones; they don’t have a unique shape yet. For that to happen, they have to be put through another round of molding.
The plastic cones are heated so they are flexible again and can be placed into molds—larger ones this time. Air is forced into the center of the mold so the small plastic cone can expand and obtain its final shape.
6.Cooling & Packaging
The final mold is left to cool. The plastic gains its desired shape and is pulled out of the mold. It is now ready to be branded and paired with a bottle cap!
Adding Design to a Sports Bottle
Sports bottles are usually printed with brand logos and names and used for advertising purposes. It’s also very common for sports bottles to be given away as promotional products on college orientations, fundraisers, and fitness centers.
Branding can be added to sports bottles using various techniques.
